Daily Sun’s Interview with Faze

Despite the sex appeal and lover-boy image he projects, the other Plantashun Boy, Faze (Chibuzor Orji) has disclosed that he has a phobia for members of the opposite sex.

“I am afraid of women,” he told Sunday Sun exclusively. “I get a lot of crazy texts. I have been mobbed and rough-handled by women.
You know what I mean, that is the reason I go around with security guards. But I understand it’s because they want to appreciate me. They are glad to see me. It’s normal.
“They want to get intimate with me. Some want to be friends and others just want to hang around. I tell them to come to my shows so that they can meet me one-on-one and relate with me. That’s the best I can do for them.”

He rationalised: “If women don’t chase you as an artiste, that means you have a problem. It means your music is not good and you are not selling, hence they are not impressed. Once you catch your female fans, you have the guys; it is the ladies that get their boyfriends to buy CDs. Even kids appreciate my music now. Once you’ve got the kids and ladies, its bingo! You start smiling to the bank.

“I am in a relationship… (continue)

Meet Faze Alone

Faze AloneRichard Chibuzor Orji, also known as Faze, was an original member of the Nigerian R&B group, Plantashun Boyz with 2Face Idibia and Blackface who have all started pursuing solo careers. Some of his hit songs include Miss u, Play Games, Na True, All of my days, Angel Gabriella, Kolomental, Alphabetic Love, Kpo kpo di kpo, Need Somebody, Tattoo girls, Do good and Letter to my brother.

Arguably one of Africa’s finest vocalist and songwriters, Faze has locked down western African Hip-hop, R&B, Reggae and blues and with a unique blend which he tags “Universal Flavour”. This allows the reason why almost every international act that comes around his vicinity likes to have a feel of his stuff on their records.

This multi-platinum selling act has a record of pushing out nothing less than a million units on each of every release he has ever done. The brand new album “Independent” has already scored over a million from bookings before the release date!

Born in the world’s most populous black city in Nigeria – Lagos, Faze was born a twin and fourth into a monogamous family of 9 children all talented with vocal gifts. He grew up singing at a very tender age. From the bedroom to the bathroom, to the kitchen, the compound, it was music all over the house. He says, “Growing up felt real good especially with the advantage of constantly having siblings who could assist with harmonies on tunes that could have flashed off the mind so easily. Some of these tunes account for some of my hits today. Morning prayers was like choir practice, based on our number we would sing hymns & songs for hours in different musical parts. It was basically fun all the way”. (more about Faze…)

Faze Alone – by Faze

Dem be two, later become three
They run things together, live in peace and harmony
Then suddenly, the three bin disagree
One go solo
The other two follow
Oh no no no
The world dey vex right now
Say the three, them dey do their thing individually
But remember, some day, them go leave each other
Cuz truly none of them be brother

Chorus
And in case you don’t know it
This na true story
That a little misunderstanding go reign within us
If we break up not to wake up
See, I foresaw it

You have the upper hand
You go make am as Faze alone (continue…) (alternative)

TuFace Idibia bags MOBO Award

TuFace IdibiaI heard that our own TuFace Idibia (aka TuFace ‘Onye’ Dibia) bagged another award (voted best African act at the Music of Black Origin awards – MOBO). Well, I will say he actually bagged the pieces of the award (literally). Reports are that the thing fell from him and dropped to the floor, and that Dbanj helped him in picking up the pieces and raising it to the audience (applauds). Talk about leaning when you are not strong, I can imagine Tuface’s legs shaking, with the award in his trembling hands and going in his mind (Waoh, can this be true?… I wasn’t expect ct cting THIS, oh … I fell like peeing… oh no ….).

Sorry folks I no dey there, but the bottom line is that Tuface shattered his award. Welcome back bro, in peace or in pieces, we are proud of you and your award.

Excerpts:

He’s the first ever African to win an MTV award. Now, the multi-platinum-selling singer has broken another record by becoming the first Nigerian to be voted best African act at the Music of Black Origin awards (MOBO) ON Wednesday September 19.

But the 32-year old father-of-two broke yet another record at the event as he accidentally broke his MOBO plaque to pieces while giving his speech writes AYENI ADEKUNLE who reports exclusively from London.
